As we head towards the 2020 holiday season, I think we have all been reflecting on what a year it has been!

With only 38% of our typical number of International Students we have been spending the last few months revising some of our materials and processes, and we will continue to do that as through the rest of the school year. Watch for a new application form as well as a new website in the coming months!

Currently, our 280+ international students are attending school – most of them face-to-face for the whole day. Like many places around the world, we are seeing higher than ideal numbers of new COVID-19 cases every day. However, transmission rates in schools remain low. With current social restrictions in the community, as well as controlled public health protocols in schools including the quarter system, increased hand washing and sanitation stations and expectations, the closed-cohorts, directional arrows and physical distancing in schools, our students are in good hands.

As we look towards the New Year, we cannot help but start to feel more positive. Although not a ‘quick fix’, the prospect of a vaccine may bring a sense of normalcy by the end of 2021. And we are starting to see more and more of our planned January/February arrivals receiving study permits. Placing students in homestays, planning their courses and awaiting their arrival feels so normal – and anything normal is joyful and exciting right now!

We are also pleased by the general interest being shown for our 2021-22 school year. We are currently open for applications and happy to help with any inquiries that you may have.

As always, we are grateful to the outstanding teachers and staff in the Delta School District, our warm and welcoming homestay families and our loyal and supportive agent partners.

We thank the parents of our students for entrusting them with us while they are far from home, and we thank our International Students for bringing diversity and enthusiasm to our classrooms and community.

Happy holidays and cheers to a brighter 2021!

Karen, and the entire Delta ISP team.
